Dam Construction - Soil Stabilisation
Dam floor and wall stabilisation can be achieved by using DUSTDOWN in the surface of the dam materials to allow quicker access when applying liners and preventing erosion during construction. The DUSTDOWN allows the in-situ materials to remain firm even after rain. This in turn allows machinery to be driven over the surface without damaging the surface in time for vinyl liners to be placed.

Furthermore, as it prevents water entering the in-situ materials, it prevents water induced erosion of the surface prior to lining the walls and hence reduces the cost of having to reform the even surface required. It also has the beneficial effect of sealing the soil under the liner in case a leak occurs.
Land Reclamation & Mine Rehabilitation - dust & erosion control
Land reclamation and rehabilitation areas are subject to wind and water erosion of soils and sands if uncovered by vegetation etc. To reduce the erosion issues the application of DUSTCAP allows some water to penetrate into the soils surface for plant growth while holding the soil surface stabile.

The crust produced also reduces the evaporation of water from the surface thereby allowing efficient use of the applied water to the area. DUSTCAP also prevents excess water from leaching heavy metals and toxins from rehabilitated areas. DUSTCAP can also be modified to create a totally impervious cap on waste rock dumps to prevent heavy metal toxin leaching and acid mine drainage from waste rock dumps.
